Homeschooled Girl Ordered to Attend Public School Over Her 'Rigid' Faith (The Christian Post)

Amanda Kurowski is a 10-year-old homeschooled girl who performs well academically and is socially well-adjusted. But her strong Christian beliefs were reason enough for a New Hampshire court to order her out of homeschooling and into a public school.

Court denies doctor's request to reconsider appeal (Portsmouth Herald)

CONCORD — The state Supreme Court has denied a request by Dr. Putnam Breed to reconsider his appeal on convictions for signing cremation certificates without viewing bodies of the deceased.

NH Employment Security Offices

Governor Lynch and Employment Security Commissioner Tara Reardon announced that five offices will be open this coming weekend, August 29 and 30th. The offices open will be Concord, Manchester, Nashua, Salem, and Somersworth. You can find details on hours of operation and contact information at this website.

Four new superior court judges nominated

Governor Lynch has nominated four new superior court judges, including Hillsborough County Attorney Marguerite Wageling, Richard McNamara, a civil litigator from Wiggin & Nourie, PA, David Garfunkel of Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, PC, and Jacalyn Colburn of the New Hampshire Public Defender. Each nominee must be confirmed by the Judicial Counsel.

N.H. Supreme Court Society Website Goes Live

The New Hampshire Supreme Court Society Website is officially live. You may access it here: http://www.nhsupremecourtsociety.org/.

The site includes information about the society, its projects and a Virtual Library, containing Justice David Souter's speech on Civics Education at the ABA in Chicago.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court Society is a charitable organization which supports and honors the work of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and promotes an independent and effective judiciary in New Hampshire. The Society also celebrates history and actively learns from it by working on "living history" projects throughout New Hampshire. Through educational programs, exhibitions of court artifacts and art, a lecture series, scholarly articles, an oral history project, and an award program, the Society seeks to increase public awareness at the life of the law - both past and present.
